Okay - when my boss is sick - it is no little deal. Take yesterday - PLEASE!! He called me and told me he was sick and I'd have to "clear the day". Okay....clear the day - can I go home???? NO! So I cleared the day, moved appointments and court cases.
This morning he called and said "clear the morning" - I'll be in for the depositions at 1:30. Okay - clear the morning - can I go home and come back at 1:30???? NO!
So I went over to juvenile court to let our client know that he was still sick and found out that THAT case had already been continued into December - fine - wish someone had told us that!!!!
He called at 12 and said - "you'll have to reset the depositions, I can't make it in". Okay - I quickly called the other attorney's office so they could reach their court reporter and then I called our client and she was disappointed. So was I actually - this case should be an easy one to win - the ex-husband just keeps digging his own hole deeper and deeper.
Then I called the two client that were scheduled to come in this afternoon and dealt with one walk-in. You know - this just kills me - you would NEVER just "walk in" to a doctor's office and expect to be seen, but people "walk in" here all the time expecting to see their lawyer - just doesn't work that way. If someone has an emergency or a real problem, I squeeze them in as quickly as I can, but other people have things that don't need immediate attention - but they think they do. Oh well.
It is 4:30 and I think I'll go home and do some more laundry. I HATE DOING LAUNDRY!!!!!!
