MISSED ANOTHER DAY POSTING HERE - IT'S BEEN THAT KIND OF A WEEK

Had a really weird thing happen with my finches yesterday.  I have a male and two females.  They are forever laying eggs and sitting on them but they never hatch.  That's okay.  Yesterday the male finch started after one of the females (Barbara) and chased her until he wore her down and then proceeded to pluck out all the feathers on her back to put in the nest with the worthless eggs!  Man - I was ready to wring his neck.  I pulled the nest out, dumped the eggs and left the nest out - caught Barbara which was so easy as she was just sort of "lying" on the bottom of the cage - fixed her a "respite" area in a corner of their cage with a small wire basket I had - put her a small bowl of water, some millett and a small piece of bread in it and left her alone to recoup.  Poor little thing - I felt so bad for her.  I know it's "nature" for the male to do that - but GEEZ.  She had "perked up" considerably before I left the office last night, eating and moving around, and this morning when I came in, she had gotten out of the respite area and was back up on the perches with the other two birds, twittering away and evidently held no grudge against the male as she was right next to him, showing no fear at all.  She still LOOKS pretty rough, but I think she'll be okay.

Jack on the other hand is a much spoiled bird - but I love him sooo much.  He is such a sweetie but now he wants to be on my shoulder ALL the time and I discovered he loves goldfish crackers - the x-tra cheddar kind.  When I get the bag, he has a FIT until I give him one.  He is a sweetie!

Dollywood opens for their Christmas season on Saturday, and of course Ryan wants us to go. I hope they don't call me in to work - I'd love to spend that time with him.  I wasn't able to spend time with him at Dollywood  a single time this year - I feel bad about that, but he is very understanding and knows we need the money.

I bought a lottery ticket this morning on a whim - a $5 ticket - don't do that very often at all!  Low and behold - I won $100!!!  Wow - excited here.
